.art Domains x Digital Art Month

The inaugural edition had kickoff earlier last week on October 1st, 2020 and will become a recurrent event in the years to come. While most of the locations are within New York City, the Digital Art Month is expanding in other cities such as Miami and Chicago and, of course, online.

This initiative provides some much-needed opportunity for art enthusiasts in this time of social distancing. This digital festival is the opportunity for self-guided exploration of a city to discover, share and enjoy forward-looking art. This unique artistic program engages with New York residents and tourists, contributing to sharing experiences and reconstructing ourselves after a few difficult months. Free and accessible to all, the Digital Art Month will animate the streets, spark conversations, and create a platform for engaging interactions between the artworks & the passersby. Furthermore, it will be the occasion for New Yorkers to get back in the streets, to stroll around and (re)discover overlooked parts of their city, which many have been deeply impacted by COVID 19. All of that due to the creative community and unique art experience that has been thought within the current sanitary restrictions.

Digital Art Month promotes creativity, community building and innovation, connecting the audiences to the exciting world of Augmented Reality art. During the month of October, public will interact with the artworks on view and share their experiences using #DigitalArtMonth on social media.

CADAF presents a comprehensive program with the Digital Art Month, that includes more than 70 AR installations from more than 40 international artists. The selection process was very open and welcoming; their cultural partners invited some while others applied via an open call. A robust online presence supplements the physical locations where the art can be discovered via QR code. To push the envelope further, they also curated a talks series accessible on the .art Domains. It will feature panel discussions as well as artist presentations. It is the opportunity to addressee some of the pressing questions of how the art world has evolved quickly in the last few months with talk like Digitizing the Art World: The Impact of Covid-19.

It’s been a long-term mission of .art Domains to connect the worlds of art, tech and finance. The pandemic has added an unexpected context. Art is now a healing force for entire economies. It helps citizens start interacting with each other and businesses again, creating a safe and enjoyable environment that’s much needed in this re-adjustment period. We’re delighted to support Digital Art Month in its endeavour of reactivating city life through art and hope the initiative will become global.
