Celebrating International Women’s Day Through the Power of Art: Amplifying Women’s Voices and Stories

In recent years, there has been a growing focus on the role of women in the arts, particularly in the field of contemporary art. .ART is a domain that has been adopted by many female artists, curators, and academics and has become a platform for promoting feminist values and empowering women in the art world.

Feminism.ART

Hilary Robinson is one such adopter of .art. Robinson is a Professor of Feminism, Art, and Theory at Loughborough University in the UK. Her research focuses on the intersection of feminism, sexuality, and visual culture, and she is the author of several books on feminist art and theory. Robinson’s work highlights the importance of representation and visibility for women in the arts.

Briukhovetska.ART

Oksana Briukhovetska is another female adopter of .art, who lives and works in Ukraine. Briukhovetska’s work addresses social and gender trauma, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine, labor migration, and motherhood. Her research practice often includes interviews and conversations with women, and she utilizes a wide range of mediums, including drawing, painting, and textiles. Briukhovetska is also a co-editor of a book collection of interviews called The Right to Truth: Conversations on Art and Feminism, which was published in Ukrainian and English in 2019.

Vollgas.ART

Andrea Vollgas, also known as Vollgas Studio, is a queer, tiny fat artist based in Zurich, Switzerland, who celebrates queerness, diversity, body acceptance, mental health, and sexuality through her art. Vollgas works as an illustrator and creates event illustrations, animated gifs, editorial illustrations, and more, often with clients who celebrate diversity, feminism, and queerness. Vollgas offers all of her work on a sliding scale, highlighting the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in the arts.

Girlies.ART

Valeria, a 14-year-old digital artist, created the Girlies NFT Collection, which is a generative NFT collection with a purpose. The collection aims to bring more inclusivity and diversity into the NFT space while inspiring women and young girls from all over the world to pursue art and anything they set their mind to. Valeria hopes that her NFT project will inspire a new generation of female artists to enter the art world and make their mark.

Agoradigital.ART

Agora Digital Art is a platform that advocates and promotes the work of women and non-binary artists working in digital art. The art world needs to recognize the important contributions of women artists to digital art, but it also needs to appreciate the significance of digital art itself. Agora Digital Art’s mission is to raise awareness about digital art and to promote the work of underrepresented artists in this field.

Kuma.ART

Kunsthalle Mannheim is a museum in Germany that has a long history of collecting and exhibiting modern art. Their STUDIO: Reload: Feminism exhibition, which runs till June 25th, 2023, features the work of Pipilotti Rist and invites various initiatives to make visible their perspectives, attitudes, and questions in the area of tension between feminism, art, and popular culture. Paris Hilton, who is involved with the Sevens Foundation, is thrilled to be part of a community that helps emerging artists get into the NFT space. She believes that the rise of the NFT marketplace has been a game-changer for the digital art world and is an incredible time for artists and creators. However, she also believes that it’s important to ensure that female artists get equal representation and opportunities. As part of this effort, Hilton is calling on female artists to create pieces that explore the themes of female empowerment and representation for a women’s only NFT art show. She believes that the past few years have been a critical time of awakening and important awareness of deeply embedded cultural injustices toward women, and that this exhibit will be one step in elevating and empowering female artists across the world.

Motiva is a new concept of visual art that fuses together inspiring quotes with striking imagery made by artists to create ‘philosophical art’, they have amazing art and brilliant articles.
