ArtCentrica Wins the 2024 Digital Innovation in Art Award

We’re thrilled to announce that  ArtCentrica  has been named the winner of the Digital Innovation in Art Award 2024! This award, presented in collaboration with GP Bullhound Allstars, celebrates the cutting-edge work happening at the intersection of technology and art—and this year, ArtCentrica has taken center stage.

Revolutionizing Art Education with Digital Innovation

Based in Florence, ArtCentrica is a standout in the EdTech sector. As a startup spin-off from Centrica, they have developed an innovative application that transforms how art is taught and experienced in the classroom. With over 8,000 high-resolution artworks available on the platform, students and teachers have access to unparalleled tools for exploring and analyzing masterpieces, bringing art education into the digital age.

From Left to Right: .ART Founder, Ulvi Kasimov, CEO of ArtCentrica and recipient of this year’s DIIA Award, Marco Cappellini, and Editor in Chief of Museum Magazine, Dean Phelus who presented the award.

“We are incredibly happy for this award! It is a recognition that ArtCentrica is at the forefront of digital innovation in the art industry, intertwined with the education sector, by addressing critical gaps in contemporary education through the integration of art by means of proprietary technologies and AI,” said Marco Capellini, Co-founder and CEO of ArtCentrica.

By combining digital technology with educational expertise, ArtCentrica is providing a new, engaging, and accessible way for students to immerse themselves in the art world—whether they are dissecting a painting’s brushstrokes or zooming in on the fine details of a historical masterpiece.

Honoring Innovation

The Digital Innovation in Art Award recognizes projects like ArtCentrica that exemplify how technology can open new pathways for creative engagement. “We are incredibly proud to honor ArtCentrica for its commitment to bridging art and technology,” said Ulvi Kasimov, Founder of .ART Registry. “Their innovation not only enhances art education but also exemplifies how technology can open new avenues for creative engagement.”

This year’s award was judged by an impressive panel of experts from both the digital and traditional art worlds. The jury included:

  • Deborah Howes – President of Howes Studio, formerly Director of Digital Learning at MoMA
  • Dean Phelus – Editor in Chief of Museum Magazine and Senior Director of Special Projects at AAM
  • Amir Soleymani – Founder of Mondoir gallery and digital art collector
  • Nik Honeysett – Executive Director of the Balboa Park Online Collaborative and former Director of Administration at the Getty Museum
  • Robert Latoś – CEO of Well of Art and 2023 Digital Innovation in Art Award winner
  • Codin Popescu – Co-founder and CEO at Artivive and 2023 Award winner
  • Anna Shvets – CEO of TAtchers’ Art Management and Founder of the Art Ambassadors Association
  • Paul Nicks – Vice President of Domain Investors at GoDaddy

This diverse and distinguished group brought together their insights from both art and technology to select ArtCentrica as the standout project of the year.

Celebrating at the GP Bullhound Allstars Gala

The award was presented at the GP Bullhound Allstars gala event in London’s Outernet, where Europe’s tech and creative industries came together to celebrate innovation and achievement. Past winners, including Artivive and Well of Art, have continued to push the boundaries of digital art and education, and we are excited to see how ArtCentrica will continue to lead in the EdTech space.

Congratulations once again to ArtCentrica! We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next.
