Present the Future: The World’s First NFT Art Residency

Hosted on presentthefuture.art, the project aims to bring together two artists for a live event that will culminate in the minting of a unique NFT. According to Maleki, who is acting as curator of the one-off event, “our goal is to present the world’s first hybrid digital / physical NFT production and minting experience, combining the work of two immensely important artistic visionaries in a setting that promises to instill a sense of awe and wonder, inspiring in the process new levels of conviviality and creativity.”

Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat

Tinie Tempah, whose 2016 smash-hit “Girls Like” featuring Zara Larsson has over 200 million hits on YouTube, hopes that the unique visual art and music collaboration will set a new standard for evolving his own creative endeavours. “I am excited about the way art is evolving and being redefined. We are entering a future I have always dreamt of as an artist where the creators are empowered like never before,” he said.

“Art and music have always gone hand in hand,” Tempah went on. “Art inspires music and vice versa, and I am excited to present works and ideas Sassan and I have spent a year working on both in the physical and digital form.”

The audio elements provided by Tempah are accompanied with works by Sassan Behnam-Bakhtiar, a French-Iranian artist known for his floral compositions that make use of impressionistic landscapes of the French Mediterranean coast, a far cry from his native Iran, where he spent considerable time as a a young man being tortured in prison.

His previous exhibition, Oneness Wholeness, was presented at London’s Saatchi gallery in 2018. It consisted of wistfully playful elements that sought to capture the beauty of the French Mediterranean coast, from where he resides, albeit seen through the lens of a densely political subject that can be difficult for outsiders to grasp.

With the recent craze surrounding NFTs mounting by the day, it appears that many artists are keen to explore interesting new hybrid digital/physical formats that only recently have become available.
