Artexb Makes Worldwide Exhibitions Accessible Via VR

 

Founded in Beijing in 2016 by Longping Derek Zhao, Artexb digitizes the works of upcoming artists and makes them available online using 360° VR technology. This means that you get to view the pieces whilst simultaneously being provided with a sense of the gallery space in which it is contained. The viewer is thus able to get a feel for artwork in the broader context of the exhibition, as well as  the specific role that each piece plays. The project focuses on solo-exhibitions and tracks the evolution of the selected artists over time.

The available content is dominated by artists who work within China, including the likes of Ai Wei Wei. Whilst works exhibited in Asia feature heavily on the website, there are several exhibitions from elsewhere, including the ‘Doing Time’ from the Taiwan Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale. Partners of the project include White Cube Gallery, ShanghART, Chambers Fine Art, Tang Contemporary Art Gallery, and the de Art Center.
