Louvre Launches Beyoncé and Jay-Z-Inspired Tour

The tour traces the scenes filmed for The Carters’ video and provides information about 17 works and sculptures featured in the 6-minute-long visual.

The ‘Apesh*t’ visual features the pair posing with some of the museum’s most famous works, including Da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’, the Venus de Milo and numerous works by

Jacques-Louis David. Veronese’s enormous ‘The Wedding Feast of Cana’, which functioned as the backdrop for a portion of the choreography in the video, also featured in the tour. The history of these works, plus others from the video, are discussed during the tour.

Many of the works showcased in the video have previously featured in photos released by the famous couple. For instance, ‘The Winged Victory of Samothrace’ appeared in a family shot taken on one of their Paris vacations.

It’s also not the first time that the Louvre has capitalized on the interest arising after an on-site film shoot. The museum offered a will.i.am tour following the release of his single ‘Mona Lisa Smile’ in 2013.

The tour is currently only available in French and takes place on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday each week. Maps detailing the route for the tour are available from the Louvre’s Reception area. If you’re not visiting Paris or if your French is a bit rusty, you can follow the visitor’s trail online.
