It’s the End of October & Things are Getting Scarier by the Minutes

Halloween is, after all, one of the best holidays to showcase your uniqueness and let your imagination run wild. From expressing who you truly art to trying something new, nobody will feel that it is too much!

What do you know about the origin of Halloween? First, it was not always the holiday we know today with the trick or treating and fancy dressing. It started as part of the Celtic festival of Samhain, an event that celebrated the harvest and ushered in “the dark half of the year’’. This was celebrated at night; people would light bonfires and wear costumes to scare off ghosts. It transforms for the first time, in the eighth century, when Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. That evening become then known as All Hallows Eve, which later morphed into the name we know it by today, Halloween. With many more centuries passing by, it evolves to the kind of holiday that we know today with candy, pumpkins carving, donning costumes and all the whole shabang of frightening decors and scary houses.

If human beings had genuine courage, they’d wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween

We say dress to impress, dress to make a statement and express how creative you feel. Dressing up like your favorite artist or artwork might be easier than you think. From a little red dress and some white makeup to reproduce an iconic painting by Liechtenstein or a few pieces of fabric and a pearl earring to replicate the famous Vermeer painting, let your imagination loose. Sporting a white wig and moving with a vintage camera might just give you the perfect Warhol feel, and old painted clothes might turn you perfectly into Van Gogh or simply wear your best pink undies and adored British bad boy Damien Hirst. Don’t forget that you can also create your own artsy costume.
