This is the eighth and final installment in .ART’s “Web3 Women’s Revolution” series, honoring Women’s History Month and exploring woman-identifying artists in the Web3 space. Blakelee Pieroni (Blakelee.art) is the visionary behind ‘Meta Betties’, a provocative, feminist series fusing performance art and Web3. This interview was edited for length and clarity.

Let’s start with the basics: how did you get into art?
I grew up immersed in dance, with intense training across all forms, paired with music, rhythm education, and improvisation. I developed a deep appreciation for choreography, production, and storytelling through movement.
In college, a severe back injury forced me to step away from dance, leading me to painting and sound design. That shift changed my trajectory indefinitely, pushing me toward a multidisciplinary practice that continues to evolve.
Tell us about performance art. What draws you to it? What’s the power of it?
Live performance is addicting—the more that goes wrong or falls apart, the better I thrive. The unpredictability makes it exhilarating. However, live performance is still confined to a stage, a set, a time, and a place. Performance art, on the other hand, can happen anywhere, at any time, completely eliminating the fourth wall.
The more that goes wrong or falls apart, the better I thrive.
The performer is forced to embody the message in spite of their surroundings, and to me, that’s art in its purest form. Performance art has no structure, no requirements—it’s open to all mediums, all bodies, all perceptions. No height requirements or typecasting; it’s for everyone, yet so many people shy away from it.
MetaBetties is such a unique project, bridging together performance art, art activism, and digital art. How did all these elements come together? How was the project conceived?
At its core, Meta Betties is a 2,500-piece NFT collection on Solana that doesn’t just exist as static digital art—it’s an evolving, interactive experience. Holders unlock access to a weekly performance art channel where conceptual short films bring our NFTs to life.
Beyond the digital realm, Meta Betties is deeply rooted in live performance and community-driven action. As the Artist in Residence at The Canvas 3.0 in The Oculus, World Trade Center, we integrate blockchain technology with IRL (in real life) exhibitions and performances. These events are not just showcases—they are provocations, designed to challenge social norms and ignite dialogue.
We’re not just creating art; we’re reshaping the way it’s experienced, owned, and activated for change.
Ultimately, Meta Betties is more than a collection—it’s a movement. By merging Web3 mechanics with performance art, we’re not just creating art; we’re reshaping the way it’s experienced, owned, and activated for change.
How did you get into Web3?
I found my way into Web3 during the COVID-19 pandemic…in that isolation, I became fascinated by Web3 as not just a technological shift but as a growing community of artists who saw an opportunity to redefine how we connect, communicate, and evolve alongside technology.
The cyborg era has long been waiting to ride the revolution of art, feminism, and post-human adaptation.
For me, Web3 is the perfect stage for a social experiment—one that challenges identity, autonomy, and the blurred line between human and machine. The cyborg era has long been waiting to ride the revolution of art, feminism, and post-human adaptation. What does identity mean when our physical form isn’t present, yet the societal conditions that shape us—like gender—still dictate how we navigate digital spaces?
Which artist in history would you have wished to see on blockchain?
If I could choose any artist in history to see on the blockchain, it would be Martha Graham. I had the privilege of training at The Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance in Midtown Manhattan, which deepened my appreciation for her impact.
As a dancer and digital artist, I see how her work could translate into a groundbreaking NFT category—a real-time, on chain archive of the most fundamental modern dance vocabulary. Blockchain could give Graham’s legacy an immutable presence in the digital era, ensuring that her innovations remain accessible to new generations in ways she could have never imagined.
Any advice for people looking to get into Web3? Any words for those who are hesitant?
It’s still early. Coming back from ETH Denver 2025, I had the opportunity to attend the SheFi Summit, where some of the most brilliant minds in crypto and AI gathered to discuss the future of Web3. Hearing from so many women in the space reaffirmed why I chose this path and reminded me of the power we have in shaping this next evolution of the internet.
Web3 is still being built, and women need to be a vital part of that foundation. If you’re hesitant, know that everyone is learning—we are all starting from level one. You don’t have to be a developer or an expert to find your place here.

Most importantly, trust that you are capable. There’s no singular way to “make it” in Web3. The ecosystem is vast, constantly evolving, and full of opportunities to explore. If you’re curious, take the first step—you’ll find a community that values what you bring.
What’s the one question you hate getting asked the most as an artist?
What’s one benefit of having a .ART domain?
A .ART domain is more than just a web address—it’s a digital framework for artists to authenticate, archive, and evolve their work. As I transition to .ART, it mirrors the seasons of my own artistic growth, securing my creations online and on the blockchain for the future.

Anything else you wish to discuss?
The Meta Betties genesis launch is coming soon, and we’re excited to introduce something groundbreaking. We’re building out a 2,500-piece NFT collection on Solana that explores cultural conflicts through art satire.
Alongside the collectible, we’re launching the first-ever OnlyFans-style performance art subversion, accessible exclusively to holders of our tokens. Each week, we upload conceptual short films to our Holders Portal channel that explore the same themes as our digital collectibles. The metadata from these NFTs transform into physical objects within the films, creating a unique, immersive experience for our holders. Holders will also earn community currency and receive airdropped brand assets. It’s a new way to interact with art, bridging the gap between digital, physical, and performance art in ways that are innovative and engaging. Stay tuned!
