The Refik Anadol Studio’s unveiling of the Large Nature Model marks a significant milestone in the fusion of art and technology. This innovative AI model is at the heart of DATALAND, the upcoming museum and Web3 platform dedicated to data visualization and AI arts. It represents a shift from traditional AI paradigms by leveraging nature’s inherent intelligence, aligning with the studio’s mission to blend art, technology, and environmental consciousness. The installation will inaugurate at the 54th annual World Economic Forum (WEF), which is being held week in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
The first application of this model, Living Archive: Nature, is an immersive installation that offers a multi-sensory journey through rainforest ecosystems. Showcased on a large media wall, it combines visual, auditory, and olfactory elements to provide a comprehensive environmental experience. This installation underscores the transformative potential of AI in environmental storytelling and advocacy.
The Large Nature Model is fueled by data from esteemed institutions like the Smithsonian and London’s Natural History Museum and is continuously evolving through global collaborations and field research. This project’s technological aspect is supported by Google Cloud, pursuing net-zero emissions, and NVIDIA, known for its advanced neural network algorithms.
DATALAND aims to be a nexus where art, science, and technology converge. Led by Refik Anadol Studio, it promises to be a dynamic space for showcasing the innovative intersection of AI and data visualization. Refik Anadol, a pioneer in media art and AI, brings a unique approach to this endeavor, blending data and machine intelligence to redefine the boundaries of art and digital experiences.
